Romantically located in the Middle Rhine Valley, at the foot of the castles "The Hostile Brothers" and in direct proximity to the famous pilgrimage monastery Bornhofen, is our family-run restaurant "Das kleine Wirtshaus".
In the historic restaurant, which is partially built directly into the rock and thus offers insight into 400 million years of history of the Middle Rhine Valley in its interior, up to 50 guests can enjoy a cozy atmosphere in a loving and modern setting. A sun terrace, which invites you to linger not only in sunshine thanks to its partial roofing, offers another 60 guests the opportunity to enjoy delicious meals. Besides the ambiance, we are especially committed to the quality of the dishes and the service. Das kleine Wirtshaus stands for a creative, varied, and versatile cuisine with modern interpretations of regional dishes without losing the grounding and sense of home. A seasonally changing menu, seasonally adapted culinary events, and collaboration with local suppliers underline this corporate philosophy. Attentive, yet not intrusive, we will gladly assist you in selecting dishes and the appropriate wine from our wine cellar. This features very good, regional, and special wines. A freshly tapped beer, a non-alcoholic soft drink, or a "Rheinsteigwasser" must of course not be missing. Furthermore, the exciting landscape in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley offers adventure and relaxation at the same time. After a hike on the well-developed hiking trails, you can strengthen yourself with a hearty meal and a cool refreshment in the kleine Wirtshaus. Located directly on the Rheinsteig, we also offer a suitable selection for the needs and wishes of hikers: snack plates, hiking provisions, and much more invite you to take a break. Or would you prefer a piece of apple or cheese strudel and a freshly brewed cup of coffee? Of course, we also place great emphasis on quality and regionality here.
